Instagram is a great way to socialise with the least amount of effort, or no effort at all. I think I would be one of those marketers who hates social media for using it in the way it is intended to.
Social media is intended to follow what’s trending, a weird algorithm, but what about it is about following the people or voices that you would like? And that’s the actual algorithm.
Finding something that’s there, and you know it existed, but in what form you don’t know.
Instagram is for finding music
But my favourite part is to find the new and lovely music on it. Or sometimes, I find that it has only a few hundred reels used on that audio, but they are hidden gems. I don’t want those songs to be popular, because then they won’t be relatable.
If it’s relatable to the masses, then it is relatable to no one. I guess. Why?
I am talking about art; art is quite specific. It’s like it’s made differently for different people. Let’s take songs, for example; some understand the lyrics, and some understand the emotions. Some notice the didgeridoo in the song, like Jane Kyon from Dil Chahta Hai, and others like the vocals of Alka Yagnik in it.
About You by The 1975
Some connect the song, like About You, with edits of a beautiful movie, “18×2 Beyond Youthful Days”, and some connect it with a past memory that they want to erase, and some just relate in a sense, like one of many parallel lives just happening in their head while listening to it.
And some…
like me…
…just happen to experience all these at once when this song plays.
“About You”.
This is what I called… Accidental Playlists
You might see these reels on Instagram, where there are some beautiful scenes from the movies, or there may be some quotes and some magical background music.
Finding music in such a way, the passive discovery is part of my day-to-day life. I guess.
How unique is my music taste?
Hahaha, well, it could be narcissistic.
But what we can do, we all are the protagonist in our own life. So my question was to know, “How good (not bad), how good is my music taste?”
Well, there are few websites, like musictaste.space. Though they are for Spotify, I am a YouTube Music user. But I should switch to more retro things, like CDs or cassettes, now.
